Namibian fuel pricing runs on two tracks. Some prices are gazetted by government notice; others are negotiated between businesses. Knowing which applies tells you where you can move.
Gazetted pricing
Gazetted prices are published by the responsible ministry, based on landed cost plus regulated margins and levies. For the products this covers, the price is fixed, not a starting point for a haggle. The purpose is stability and fairness.
Negotiated pricing
Bulk and commercial supply and certain products can be negotiated. Here price reflects volume, delivery terms, credit, logistics and the relationship between the parties.
Practical guidance
- If a product is gazetted, compete on service, reliability and delivery, not the headline price.
- If a product is negotiated, the terms around the price are where value is won or lost.
- Always confirm which regime a deal sits under before discussing numbers.
On the platform
Damtata shows gazetted benchmarks clearly so nobody negotiates against a fixed number, and gives negotiated deals a structured room with escrow and documentation so terms are explicit.
